The burnt timbers of the hall appears.

The excavation is now going into its third week. We have removed the turf layer and post modern remains in the shape of a 17th/18th century building that appeared as a surprise as there were no indications for it on historical maps. There is also a possibility that we have remains of a medieval building on the terrace. There are two or three post holes that run i parallel with some high/late medieval features found in the 1990s.

Upper part of a carbonized post.
Very fragile very good information about how the house was built
Now are the surfaces of the great hall features and floor layers visible and the next step is to begin with excavations of post holes and a section of the outer wall where the carbonized timbers are preserved.
